the problem with language apps
we studied every language learning app on the market. duolingo, speak, ELSA, talkio, praktika, talkpal — all of them. and we found the same pattern everywhere: they start teaching immediately. flashcards on day one. grammar drills on day two. pronunciation tests on day three.
but that's not how humans learn language.
think about how children learn. they don't start with grammar. they start with trust. a parent's voice. a feeling of safety. the words come later — naturally, inside a relationship that already exists. decades of research (krashen, swain, van lier) confirm what every parent already knows: anxiety blocks language acquisition at a neurological level. the more scared you are, the less you learn.
