What We Never Do

We never sell your personal data to third parties. We never use your conversations to train AI models. We never share your identity with other students. We never serve ads or allow third-party tracking for advertising purposes.

AI & Third-Party Services

madsio uses AI services to power companion conversations and voice features. Your messages are sent to these providers for processing only — they are not stored or used for training. Our providers include OpenAI (conversation), Anthropic (conversation), ElevenLabs (companion voice), and Microsoft Azure (pronunciation scoring).

Payment is processed by Stripe, which has its own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing it at stripe.com/privacy.

Voice Recordings

When you use the microphone for pronunciation practice, your audio is sent to Azure Speech Services for real-time scoring. The audio is processed immediately and deleted from our servers within 6 hours. We do not keep a permanent library of your voice.

Cookies

We use essential cookies for session management and authentication. We use a minimal analytics cookie to understand how people use madsio. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

Your Rights

You can export all your data (vocabulary, progress, conversation history) from your console at any time. You can delete your account and all associated data — this includes a 7-day grace period, after which deletion is permanent and irreversible. You can update your email and preferences from your console.

If you're in the EU, you have additional rights under GDPR including data portability, rectification, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Data Retention

Active accounts: data retained as long as your account exists. Cancelled accounts: data retained for 30 days after cancellation, then permanently deleted. Trial profiles (anonymous): deleted after 30 days of inactivity. Voice recordings: deleted within 6 hours of creation. Session logs (anonymized): retained for 12 months for service improvement.

Children

madsio is designed for users aged 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as our service evolves. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users at least 14 days before taking effect. The "last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version.
